The InnovAfrica Project co-coordinator Sekhar Nagothu attended the European Union (EU) research and innovation program—Horizon2020—Project Coordinators’ Day on 22nd June 2017 in Brussels, Belgium.

The forum was an opportunity for coordinators of EU Horizon2020 projects selected in 2016 to interact with European Commission officials from the Research Executive Agency on Sustainable Resources for Food Security and Growth (REA B2 Unit). The meeting was also a platform for the coordinators to share their experiences and explore opportunities for collaboration.

During the meeting, Nagothu presented the InnovAfrica project framework, expected results, outcomes and impacts. He emphasized the project’s approach of actively involving relevant actors and end users—smallholder farmers—throughout the project’s life cycle through multi-actor platforms.

The significance placed by the InnovAfrica project on dissemination, and communication of results to the end users, policy makers and the broader public reflects the objectives of the Horizon2020 program as a whole.
