Rwanda Agricultural Board Staff showing establishment of forage using vegetative tillers

InnovAfrica project team at the Rwanda Agriculture Board has started to evaluate, integrate and disseminate Brachiaria grass technology among the smallholder farmers practicing mixed crop-livestock system in Kirehe district of Rwanda. This technology has been instrumental for sustainable intensification of livestock production system and for improving livestock productivity in other regions of the country.

Multi Actor Platforms (MAP) established in InnovAfrica will help in scaling up the technology and strengthening the Brachiaria forage-livestock value chain for the benefits of smallholder farmers. MAP will continue to engage in the implementation and monitoring of project activities. Farmer field days and exposure visits will be organized involving women, young farmers and extension workers during the crop season.
